Just about 500 years young

Green Tree Distillery, locally known as Palírna U Zeleného Stromu, stands as one of Europe’s oldest distilleries, boasting a rich history that dates back to 1518. Situated near Dresden, on the German border in the Czech Republic, this distillery has been crafting spirits for over 500 years.

Founded by Vilém of Pernštejn, the distillery initially brewed beer before transitioning to distilling spirits under the expertise of Jan Chytrovský and later Pavel Zoubek. Today, Green Tree Distillery is celebrated for its traditional methods and high-quality products, including absinthe and rye whiskey.

Their rye whiskey matures for 4 to 7 years in oak casks, absorbing the rich history of the oldest European distillery deep in the cellars of Prostějov, five meters underground. Blend master Roman Petruš personally oversees the quality of the rye distillates, ensuring careful selection.

Additionally, the Panamanian Heffron rums are crafted in collaboration with Las Cabras de Pesé, brought to life by master blender Francisco Fernández, known as Don Pancho, who has over 50 years of experience in rum making.

The distillery’s dedication to preserving historical techniques while embracing modern innovations has made it a beloved institution among spirit enthusiasts. Whether you’re intrigued by the storied past of European distilling or eager to savor a finely crafted spirit, Green Tree Distillery offers a unique and authentic experience.
