Following 2.5 years of maturation in new American white oak casks, this SLYRS Single Malt Whisky is finished in original Amontillado casks for another 4 years. For our SLYRS Single Malt Whisky Amontillado Cask Finish we use rare Amontillado Sherry casks as old as 50 years, sourced from the prestigious Bodegas Tradición in Jerez, Spain. In the glass it shines a golden yellow. The smell evokes scents of ripe apples, vanilla and green hazelnuts. Strong, spicy-nutty flavor. SLYRS reaching new heights ... This vision of an Upper Bavarian whisky came to SLYRS founder Florian Stetter during a study trip to Scotland. He realized it in the heart of the Bavarian Alps: with great attention to detail, the best Bavarian raw materials and a gentle production process, a fruity-malty original is now created in the SLYRS Whisky Distillery in Neuhaus on Lake Schliersee: the SLYRS Bavarian Single Malt Whisky. ... at exactly 1501 meters Mountains at their doorstep, an idea in their minds: SLYRS Whisky, breathing the high mountain air of the Upper Bavarian Alps and maturing there to perfection. In 2014, SLYRS co-founder Anton Stetter, together with managing director and master distiller Hans Kemenater, put this plan into action. They transported approximate ly 50 specially selected whisky casks by ski lift to an altitude of 1501 meters, to the summit of Mount Stümpfling. There, the unique SLYRS mountain warehouse is located. The SLYRS Mountain Edition matures within it for 5 years until its completion. Slyrs Single Malt PX Cask – RRP € 73,70
After maturing for 3–6 years in American white oak, the whisky is transferred for a further 9 months into a cask that previously held Pedro Ximénez sherry. This sweet sherry variety adds extra flavours of plums, berries, spice and raisins to the whisky. The distillery stands on the shores of the Schliersee in southern Bavaria, Germany. They work with locally grown grains and mineral‑rich water from an alpine spring right next to the distillery. Long fermentation times and slow distillation create the characteristic flavours found in Slyrs whiskies. For their casks they collaborate with World Cooperage, which supplies them with the highest quality American white oak barrels. The SLYRS Single Malt Whisky Fifty One is a secret single malt composition, matured for varying lengths of time in casks that previously held sherry, port wine, or Sauternes. The name Fifty One refers to its characteristic 51% alcohol by volume. This is a cuvée that truly packs a punch. For the maturation of this German whisky, in addition to the usual casks, those are also used that previously contained port wine, sherry, or Sauternes.
